ICU started as a social media campaign in 2018, and is led by Kendra Houseman a survivor of CSE and gangs. When she was a child she used to think that adults couldn’t see her they were blind to what she was going through and what was happening, and she had become invisible.
#ICU21 saw a twitter alight with the hashtag drawing those to who should not have to hear ‘It Just Is’ but need advocates to get ‘Justice’.
As part of this campaign ‘Beardy’ made two videos to support the cause. They can be seen below.
Many many people showed their support posting videos or tweeting using their positions of privilege for those who had none. My personal highlight is this spoken word by Leon Helsby.
